Booking and approach
We repair Maytag refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers, ranges, cooktops, wall ovens and over-the-range microwaves. The services page describes each type. Each service page lists the symptoms we see most, the installation details that change a diagnosis and how the visit is organized.
We serve San Francisco and the Bay Area, including San Mateo, Santa Clara, Marin, Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties. The locations list shows individual towns and neighborhoods. Hills, fog-bound avenues, narrow streets and walk-up buildings are normal here, so tell us about parking and stairs when you request a visit.
We schedule Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. A request sent after hours is picked up when the next working day begins. Picking a window that suits you matters in buildings with doorman rules or shared laundry rooms, so mention any access limits in your request.
A technician examines the appliance and finds the cause, explains it in plain terms and prepares a written estimate. Nothing is repaired until the owner approves it. That order never changes: diagnosis, explanation, written estimate, your decision. The estimate describes the repair so you can compare it with your options.
Yes. If you decline the estimate, the appliance is left as it was found and no repair is carried out. Declining carries no obligation to proceed with anything else, and you can ask questions about the finding before you decide.
Model numbers and codes
It is usually on a label in the door frame, inside a cabinet wall, on a drawer front edge, under a washer lid or inside a dryer door opening. The post on finding a Maytag model number gives more spots. A photo of the label sent with your request is often the quickest route. If the label is painted over or worn, describe the appliance type, the door style and the control panel instead.
Parts, controls and wiring differ between generations of the same appliance type. Knowing the exact model lets the technician prepare for the right unit and avoid guessing. Two refrigerators that look alike on the outside can use different controls, so the number saves time on the first visit.
Write it down exactly as shown, then look it up in the error code pages. We only describe meanings that are documented, and a technician confirms the actual cause on site. Many codes only narrow the search to a system rather than naming a single part. That is why a technician checks the appliance itself after reading the display.
Safety and owner checks
Only checks from the outside: power, breaker and GFCI, door or lid closing, gaskets, filters, a clogged drain screen, the lint screen and outside vent flap on a dryer, supply valves, kinked hoses, and one controlled power reset. Never open panels or touch gas fittings. If a check does not change anything within a few minutes, stop and request a visit rather than trying a deeper fix.
Leave the home immediately, avoid touching any switch, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not try to find the leak yourself. Do not relight burners, run the dryer or switch lights on and off until the utility has cleared the home.
Turn the appliance off at the breaker and stop using it. Describe what you noticed when you request a visit. Do not reset the breaker and try again. Burning smells and sparks mean the appliance needs inspection before it is used again.
Practical questions
Either can be the cause, which is why a technician checks both the machine and the vent run. Long vent routes in older buildings clog easily. The dryer takes too long article explains the checks. Clearing a lint screen and looking at the outside vent hood flap is a safe first step for any dryer owner.
It depends on the fault, parts availability and how the appliance has behaved over time. The article on repair or replace a Maytag appliance lists the factors we weigh. A frank conversation about the choice is part of the visit when the fault is serious.
Yes. Landlords, property managers and HOAs often have several generations of the same Maytag laundry or kitchen appliance in one building. Give the unit details and access arrangements when you request a visit. We can also work with a building manager on access, and written estimates make approvals simpler when an owner is not on site.
No. Our work is limited to Maytag, which keeps the diagnosis focused. Focusing on one brand lets the technician recognize patterns in how its laundry and kitchen appliances fail.
Closing the supply valve to the appliance is a safe owner step and limits damage while you wait for a visit. Mop up standing water, keep the area dry and note where the water first appeared, because that helps the technician trace it. For refrigerators, mention whether the ice maker is in use.Did not find your answer? Browse the common problems index or send a question through the contact page.
