The heater is not getting full power
Maytag lists F4 E4 as a Low or No Line Voltage diagnostic code for household and commercial dryers. It suggests a problem with the home power supply, and with that the heater will not turn on. Touching any pad dismisses the message.
Why there are two breakers
An electric dryer gets its own 30-amp circuit with a fuse on each side of the line, which is why two circuit breakers control it. One serves the drum motor and the other serves the heating element. If either has tripped, heat may be missing. See that both are on; a fuse is replaced and a breaker is reset.
Supply, cord and terminals
- The dryer needs 240 volts. Without that it cannot run correctly, and Maytag directs you to a qualified electrician.
- Cord installation must be right; the instructions cover both 3-wire and 4-wire connections.
- Loose terminal screws at the dryer are another thing to look for. Pull the plug before you touch them.
Then cycle the power
- Breaker(s) off, wait 5 minutes.
- Breaker(s) on.
- Run a time dry cycle, ideally Timed Dry with heat.
- Stay with the dryer for 5 minutes.
A message that persists means consulting a qualified electrician.
