Error codeF31
ApplianceDryer
Low or no line voltage
F31 is an L2 code. On a Maytag commercial dryer it reports low or no line voltage, which Maytag links to the home power supply. While the fault lasts, the heater cannot turn on.
Supply checks
Protection devices: two household fuses or breakers feed an electric dryer, so look at both for a blown fuse or a tripped breaker. A blown fuse gets replaced; a tripped breaker is reset by switching the dryer’s household breaker to off for a single minute and back to on.
Cord: installation must be correct, and the Installation Instructions explain how.
Test run
Finish by starting a time dry cycle and staying near the dryer for one minute; the question is whether F31 shows again.
F30: a venting message, so unrelated to the supply
F4 E4: the same power supply warning under another code
Dryer service in San Francisco and the Bay Area
If F31 comes back after the supply checks, a visit is the sensible next move. Call (415) 649-2156 and tell us the code, the model number and which fuse or breaker steps you have done. See Maytag dryer repair for the service itself.
Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so F31 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
L2 code: low or no line voltage, possibly a home power supply problem that keeps the heater from turning on.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
