Error codeFC E2
ApplianceRange
Start with the bars
FC E2 is the display telling you the range never made it onto the home network. Stand beside the range with your phone or tablet: are all the bars showing? If not, Maytag gives three remedies: put the router elsewhere, buy a compatible signal extender, or ask your Internet Service Provider for help.
Possible causes
Candidates in the manual: the connection timing out, a weak signal, a dead router, the range’s own Wi-Fi Module, or its wiring. In Maytag’s words, nothing connects that module to the wireless router.
Resets to run
Turn the breaker(s) to the range off, wait one minute, turn them on.
Stay with the range for a minute, then verify that it operates.
Reset the router.
If a second Wi-Fi device works and your phone or tablet behaves normally beside the range, take away the router’s power for two minutes and restore it. Then do the same to the range.
Related Wi-Fi codes
FC E1 carries an identical message and is explained step by step.
A range in San Francisco or the surrounding Bay Area that still displays FC E2 after these steps needs a technician. Call (415) 649-2156 and mention which reset you tried. The Maytag range repair page lists what we cover; keep the model number handy.
Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so FC E2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
A connected Maytag range could not join the home network because of a time out, weak signal, router, Wi-Fi Module or wiring problem.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
