Maytag Dryer F3E2 Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code F3E2
Appliance Dryer

The front moisture sensor strip

Maytag’s dryer service data sheet defines F3E2 as an open or shorted front moisture sensor strip. It appears in service diagnostic mode only, so it is not something normal use puts on the display.

What an owner can look at

Maytag’s help page for the display message lists two checks worth making if the dryer is not sensing moisture properly.

  • Check that the dryer is level. A dryer that leans may keep clothes from touching the moisture sensors.
  • Check the load. Very small loads and single items can miss the sensors, so dry larger loads or use an Automatic cycle rather than Timed Dry.

The help page also lists a power reset: breaker(s) off for 1 minute, back on, then a time dry cycle with 1 minute of monitoring. Testing the strip itself is a technician’s job.

Related moisture sensor codes

  • F3E7 is the rear strip version of this fault.
  • F3 E2 is the display message about no moisture sensor data.
  • F3 E5 is a second sensor data message, raised after five loads.

For sensor strip work on a Maytag dryer in San Francisco or the Bay Area, call (415) 649-2156. Give the technician F3E2, the model number and any steps from the list above that you tried. The Maytag dryer repair page has the details.

Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so F3E2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
