What FC E1 reports
The microwave tried to reach your router and could not. Maytag lists five possible sources: a connection time out, poor signal strength, a failed router, the Wi-Fi module inside the microwave, and the wiring tied to that module. The entry covers over-the-range models.
Walk through it in this order
- Turn off the circuit breaker or breakers for a minute, switch them on, then watch the microwave for another minute. If FC E1 does not return, confirm the microwave works.
- If the code is still there, the Wi-Fi module and the router are not linked, so reset the router.
- Take a phone or tablet to the spot where the microwave is installed and see whether it connects properly.
- If it does, unplug the router for two minutes and plug it in again. Then disconnect the microwave from power for two minutes and reconnect it.
Weak signal
If the device you tested shows less than full bars, there are three options: move the router, add a compatible signal extender, or talk to your Internet Service Provider.
Still FC E1
When every step above has been done and the code remains, the next step is a technician visit.
Other connection codes
- FC E2 carries the same cause list and the same steps.
- FC E3 is another router connection failure.
- FC E7 starts with a reset and a cycle.
Microwave repair around San Francisco
For a Maytag microwave in San Francisco or the wider Bay Area that keeps displaying FC E1, start from Maytag microwave repair and call (415) 649-2156. Have the code, the model number and a short list of the resets you already did ready.
Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so FC E1 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
