Maytag Washer LoC and LC Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code LoC / LC
Appliance Washer

Nothing is broken when a front load Maytag washer shows LoC or LC. The spelling depends on the model, and both mean the control lock is turned on.

Why you see it

While the lock is on, the panel ignores the buttons. Pressing one brings up LoC or LC to remind you that the lock has to be released first.

Releasing the lock

  1. Touch the Control Lock button and keep holding it for 3 seconds.
  2. Watch the display count 3, 2, 1 and then show LC or LoC.

Older models: the owner manual shows which button is the control lock, and some of them need a press and hold. A locked washer still accepts START to pause a running cycle and POWER to switch off.

Related codes

  • F2 E1: the interface detects a button that is continuously activated.
  • F0 E1: items found in the drum during a Clean Washer cycle.

Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so LoC / LC may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
