Maytag Washer CL Error Code
CL on a Maytag front load washer is not a fault: it reminds you to run the Clean Washer cycle.
A 4.5 cu ft Fresh Hold front load washer, diagnosed for drain, door and vibration problems.
The MFW5500FW is a front load washer in the Front Load 4.5 cu ft Fresh Hold series. We state nothing further about its feature set or availability. What we know is that it is a front-loader, and front-loaders have predictable weak points. Background on the type is under Maytag washers, and the repair process under Maytag washer repair.
When a front load washer rocks, the usual suspects are an unlevel floor, a heavy single item such as a comforter, or feet that have drifted out of adjustment. In older SF flats with wood floors that flex, a washer on the upper level may shake worse than the same machine on a slab garage floor. Our post on a washer shaking and loud covers the checks. F0 E5 is also an off-balance reading.
A front-loader has a small drain filter near the bottom front, which collects coins, lint and hair. If it clogs, the washer drains slowly and can show a long-drain code such as F9 E1. Place a towel and shallow pan down before opening the filter, since water comes out. If you are unsure, leave it for the visit.
Check that both supply hoses are tight, not kinked, and attached to the correct valves. The drain hose should sit in the standpipe with a loop and not be pushed deep. A stacked laundry closet leaves little room, so hoses are often squeezed.
The label is usually on the door rim or inside the door opening: MFW5500FW. We estimate in writing after diagnosis and repair only what you approve. A newer sibling to compare is the MFW7020RF. Tell us about your hoses, the floor under the washer and any code you noticed, because those details narrow the cause before we arrive.

Usually on the door rim or just inside the door opening. A phone photo is enough.
Moisture stays in the boot and drawer. Leave the door open between loads and wipe the gasket. If it persists, book a visit.
It can wear parts over time. Level the washer and reduce load size; if shaking continues, have it looked at.
