Range Repair in San Francisco
Maytag electric and gas ranges repaired in Bay Area kitchens: cold ovens, burners that will not light, wrong oven temperatures and error…
Electric and gas, from simple bake faults to door latch codes, handled in the kitchens of the city and the Bay Area.
A Maytag range does two jobs in one cabinet, and in a San Francisco kitchen it usually does them in very little room. Galley layouts in flats, narrow Victorian kitchens that were chopped into units, and in-law apartments with a single wall of cabinets all put a freestanding range between a refrigerator and a countertop. When something fails, you notice at dinner time: a burner that will not light, an oven that stops short of its set temperature, a door that stays locked after a clean cycle. Our Maytag range repair visits start with a diagnosis, and you get a written estimate before any part is replaced.
Five Maytag range models are in our reference list, split between electric and gas. All five are 30″ freestanding ranges.
On a freestanding range the label is usually on the frame around the oven opening, so it shows when the oven door is open, or on the inside edge of the storage drawer opening. Photograph the whole string, letters and digits, so we know the fuel type and the parts involved.
A bake or broil element that has stopped working, a temperature sensor that reports the wrong reading, or a control that no longer commands heat can each look like a cold oven. Our guide to an oven that is not heating explains how the symptoms differ, and the one on an oven temperature that is off covers food that cooks too slowly or burns even though the display looks normal.
On a gas range the cause is often grease or boil-over residue at the burner ports, or a spark module that has stopped producing a steady spark. Read what to look at when a gas burner will not light before you try matches.
A latch assembly or switch that cannot confirm the door position stops a self-clean cycle or leaves the oven unwilling to start. Banging on the door does not help and can bend the latch.
Maytag range displays use letter-number codes, and our reference list gives plain meanings for the ones we have verified. A few examples: 1d11 points toward the oven temperature sensor, the control or the wiring. 4d11 points toward the oven door latch assembly, the door switch or the wiring. 4d21 refers to an airflow restriction, the oven cooling fan or the wiring. F5 and the F1-A family refer to latch and lock problems, and F9E0 mentions mis-wired house or range power. A code names the area to examine; it does not name the failed part. Our full range error codes guide lists the rest.
If you smell gas, leave the home, avoid switches and lights, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. If you see sparks or smell burning, turn the range off at the breaker and leave it off. Never open panels or touch gas fittings yourself.
An anti-tip bracket should hold the rear of the range to the floor or wall, and a technician checks it whenever the range has been pulled out. Gas supply connections, the flexible connector and the shutoff valve all sit behind the range, so we confirm them as part of any gas burner call.
When you are ready for a visit, our range repair service page explains how the appointment runs: the technician diagnoses first, you receive a written estimate, and nothing is repaired without your approval. If you also have a built-in oven or a separate cooking surface, see Maytag wall ovens and Maytag cooktops.

Yes. The models we list include electric and gas versions, all 30″, and a visit begins with a diagnosis of whichever fuel type you have.
Write the code down and try one controlled power reset at the breaker. If the code comes back, or you notice burning smells or sparks, switch the range off at the breaker and request a visit.
A clean cycle puts extra demand on the door latch and its switch, so latch faults often appear right after one. The code and the symptom tell the technician where to start.
No. You get a diagnosis and a written estimate first, and nothing is repaired until you approve it.
