Dryer Repair in San Francisco
Maytag electric and gas dryers diagnosed on site at your Bay Area home, from clogged vents and no-heat faults to worn belts,…
Electric and gas Maytag dryers, the vent problems behind slow drying, and how a visit works.
In many Bay Area homes the Maytag dryer sits beside a matching washer in a garage, a hall closet or a stacked laundry cabinet. The dryer is where vent length, gas supply and household power all come together, so a complaint that sounds simple can have several possible causes.
Six electric models are documented. The MED5430MW is a top-load steam-enhanced 7.0 cu ft dryer. The MED6500MBK is a Pet Pro model at 7.0 cu ft, while the MED7205RF is Pet Pro at 7.4 cu ft. The 27-inch MED7230HW is a Smart Top Load Extra Power dryer, the MED7405RR is a Smart Top Load model with a Pet Pro option, and the 27-inch MED8630HC is a Smart Front Load Extra Power dryer at 7.3 cu ft.
Two gas models are documented: the MGD7205RF, a Pet Pro top-load at 7.4 cu ft, and the MGD7405RR, a Smart Top Load model with a Pet Pro option. A gas dryer adds an igniter and gas valve to the list of parts a technician considers, which is why fuel type is the first thing we ask about.
The label is usually visible in the dryer door opening, on the frame or the inside rim. Open the door, look around the edge and copy the whole line. This also tells us whether the machine is electric or gas, which changes the whole approach.
Start with our pieces on a dryer not heating, a dryer that takes too long, a squeaking dryer and a gas dryer not igniting.
Maytag explains a handful of dryer codes. AF, F30 and F4E3 all point to restricted airflow, meaning a clogged lint screen or a crushed or blocked vent. F4E1 and F4E2 refer to the heater, L2 to low or no line voltage, and PF to a power failure that interrupted the cycle. Many others are listed without a stated cause. See Maytag dryer error codes for the broader set.
A long or kinked vent run through an older wall is the most common root of slow drying and heat codes. Rental buildings with a shared roof vent can add back pressure that the dryer was never meant to fight. An electric dryer depends on its circuit, so a tripped breaker on one leg can leave the drum turning with no heat. A gas dryer needs its supply valve open and a healthy igniter. A technician reads the code, measures airflow and then tests the parts, instead of swapping a heater first.
Clean the lint screen and look at the outside vent hood to see whether the flap opens freely. Check the breaker, and for a gas dryer confirm the gas valve handle is in its normal position. Make sure the door shuts and the load is not packed too tightly. Write down any code and try one controlled power reset.
If you smell gas, leave the home right away, avoid switches, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. A burning smell means the power goes off at the breaker. Never open the cabinet or test live parts yourself.
Book through Maytag dryer repair. We diagnose first, provide a written estimate and repair only after you approve.
Both. Six electric models and two gas models are covered, so say which fuel your dryer uses when you book.
Restricted airflow is the usual reason. Clean the lint screen and check the outside vent flap, then book a diagnosis if the problem continues.
Maytag describes AF as restricted airflow, usually a clogged lint screen or a vent that is crushed or blocked.
No. Power to one leg of the circuit, airflow limits or a sensor can all stop heat, so the code and the vent are checked first.
We focus on residential Maytag dryers in homes and shared laundry rooms. Some Maytag codes mention coin and card circuits, but we do not run laundry routes.
