Error codeF8 E3
ApplianceWasher
An overflow, in two forms
Front load: there is too much water or foam in the washer.
Top load: the water level has climbed past what the washer is built to hold.
Cutting down foam on a front load washer
Three questions cover the common causes of suds.
Which detergent? Use only HE (High-Efficiency) detergent and measure it each time. Very soft water can call for even less. Regular detergent, or too much of any detergent, makes extra suds, which can slow the spin and leave loads very wet or trigger error codes.
Which bleach? “No splash” and “easy pour” liquid chlorine bleach has a thickener in it that may add suds. Regular liquid bleach avoids the problem.
When was it last cleaned? Run a “Clean Washer” cycle after the current cycle to clear leftover detergent and build-up.
Reset the power on either type
Unplug the washer for five minutes, plug it in, and watch for the code to return.

If F8 E3 returns even after you cut back on detergent and switched bleach, book a technician visit. Call (415) 649-2156 for Maytag washer repair in San Francisco and around the Bay Area, with the model number and what you altered.
Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so F8 E3 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
